Scallop circle cupcake purse/bag

These little bags are so much fun!  After making a couple of Top Note Bags I thought, lets try a scallop circle bag. I used paper from Bella Rose Designer paper. I cut the two scallop circles, I trimmed a straight line cutting off 8 scallops. I stamped the little cupcake from Darling Dots a Hostess set from the catalog, and punched it with the 1 3/8 round punch. I mounted that on a Regal Rose scallop punched with the circle scallop punch. For the handle I used a strip of Old Olive card stock and topped that with a piece of Regal Rose 5/8 ribbon. I fastened that to the side of the bag with my crop-a-dile and large eyelets. The tab is a label from the Matchbox Big Shot Die. I punched a slit with the slit punch for the end of the tab to slip into.

Baroque Motif Purse

I saw this little top note bag on the Internet and wanted to try it. It is so simple and quick. I cut 2 pieces of card stock with the Top Note Die and my Big Shot. I stamped them with the swirl from Baroque Motif stamp set in Whisper White ink. The little bags come from MIchaels, they come in different colors in a pack of 12 or so. I cut the bag so it was 2 1/2 inches high. I adhered the top notes to each side. Using my small oval punch I punched to ovals from Whisper White, I then punched around the oval punch with the scallop oval punch. I also punched to small ovals at the top of the Top Note Bag and glued the scallop outlines on top of where the oval was punched out. I finished it off with white taffeta ribbon. For the little tag I cut a small scallop from the scallop die #2 die and stamped it with "Little Something".

Cupcake Card

Cupcakes are all the rage right now, My 7 year old went to a birthday party a few weeks ago and instead of a birthday cake they were served cupcakes. In the crafting world you see them everywhere as well. Today I was cleaning my desk off and picked up a scrap of Candy Lane paper. Instead of putting it away I had an idea. I had seen a little cupcake made with punches so I thought why wouldn't a bigger cupcake using the Big Shot work. Who would't love a handmade card with a cupcake on it!

For the card base I took a piece of 4 x 8 1/2 card stock scored it and folded it in half for a 4x4 card. I took a piece of Whisper White card stock and adhered it to the pink with about 1 inch of white sticking up above the fold of the card. I placed the whole thing on the Scallop Circle die with the pink being slightly below the top of the scallops and the white over the whole circle. The result is a card that is perfectly lined up with a full scallop circle front, but an inside that opens like a card.

The front of the card is stamped with the Polka Dot background stamp in Pink pirouette. I cut a small piece of pink pirouette with the Big Shot for the bottom of the card.

The Cupcake

This is soooo easy. I put the paper on 1/2 of the larger die of the Scallop Circles Die #2 and ran it through the Big Shot. The bottom of the cupcake is the reverse side of the same scrap cut in a rectangle, I slightly angled the sides and rounded the bottom 2 corners. I then put the whole thing through my crimper for the "cupcake paper look" A 3/4 inch red circle for a cherry finished off the cupcake.

Lastly the sentiment is stamped on White taffeta ribbon. I frayed the ends and adhered it to the bottom of the card.

A 5 Point Star

Did you ever have one of those moments? One of those moments and the light bulb goes on. When you have an idea that you are positive is going to be so cool? And then when you try the idea and it actually works-it is quite a moment!

I bought the Five Point Star Big Shot Die a few weeks ago. The Big Shot will cut thin metal and I wanted to try and make a metal star. Today it occur ed to me that it might look kind of cool to try make a feaux metal star and if I don't say so myself it turned out pretty cool.

I cut 5 points from the die out of black card stock and folded on all of the fold lines. I covered each point with VersaMark by pressing the whole stamp pad on the card stock. I then covered the inked up card stock with black embossing powder, holding each individual piece with a tweezers I melted the powder. The finished product turned out really cool. It is kind of hard to see on the picture, but it does look like metal.

Easter

Happy Easter everyone!!! I hope you are enjoying a day of friends and family. Today we went to church, we attend a small church, but that little church is our family. The sermon was awesome. (My husband is the Pastor) the music was great, it was a great morning.

Scallop Card

This card took me 10 minutes or less to make. I cut the card stock with my Big Shot using the large scallop die. I stamped it with the swirls from the Priceless rubber stamp set. I put a piece of white taffeta ribbon across the top and then used one of my layered flowers for the wow look. I stamped "So Kind" with Creamy Caramel.

I love my Big Shot! When Stampin' Up! first came out with it I wasn't so sure about it. I do have a Wishblade cutter that I bought a couple of years ago. So I wasn't sure a Big Shot was something I would use that much. After a few months of seeing cool projects my peers were making I folded and decided to invest in one. I love it!!! Most of the dies that Stampin' Up! sells are ones you can use over and over again for different projects. When I can make several projects from one die I feel like it is a good investment. For the card today I took white card stock folded in half and placed it on the die with the fold under the cut line. I adhered the pink card on the white card base for a fun and different card.

Flower Tag

Today I made a tag using the flowers that I made the other day. I used a piece of paper from the monochromatic designer Baha Breeze paper that I used on the flower., it was just a different pattern than what was used on the flower. I cut the tag 3 x 5 and mounted that on Not Quite Navy card stock. I pulled out my Priceless stamp set and stamped the flower and the butterfly on Perfect plum card stock and the flower on Kiwi Kiss card stock. I embossed them each with iridescent ice embossing powder just to give them some pop. I also added a green jewel brad in the focal point flower and a blue jewel brad in the green flower. The ribbon is Baha Breeze striped grosgrain ribbon and 1/4 inch white grosgrain ribbon. A tag like this can be used in several ways. You could use it as a card, on a card, a scrapbook page, You will just have to check back next week to see what I decided to do with it.

Superman, Hostess Cupcakes, and Iced Tea

What do Superman, Hostess Cupcakes, and Iced Tea have in common? It all has to do with my husbands birthday. Monday was Brad's birthday and even though I wasn't going to see him I wanted him to know that me and the kids were thinking of him. He works very hard. He is a Pastor, but because our church is small and new he also drives truck during the week to make ends meet. Since it was spring break our 13 year old son was going to be with him.

Sunday I had a brainstorm and stopped at Wallgreens on my way to church. I bought a Superman gift bag because he is our super duper trucker! I also picked up 2 packages of Hostess cupcakes, birthday candles, a lighter, and a couple of Easter popcorn balls. I had 2 jars of his favorite iced tea in the van that I had picked up the day before. I put it all in the gift bag. It was a birthday party in a bag!! Pretty cool if I don't say so myself. I gave it to him Sunday afternoon as he was leaving. On Monday our son got it out lit the candles and sang happy birthday. It was a special moment for the two of them and special for me because I love making Brad happy.

Today I took my kids to Fredrick Meyer Gardens to see the butterflies so I didn't get much done in my studio. But here are some pictures for you.

 

 

 

Monchromatic flowers from the Big Shot

Didn't these turn out cool? I think they did. I made all of these in less than an hour! I used the Perfect Plum and Baha Breeze monochromatic designer series paper, Candy Cane Lane, and Bella Rose Designer paper. What made it go so quick was that I used my Big Shot to cut out the flowers.I used the flower layers, and the flowers #3 dies.I could layer up to 4 or 5 sheets of paper on the die and then run it through the Big Shot. After I cut the flowers I layered them together with Stampin' Dimentionals for a 3D effect.

Here are some close ups of a couple of flowers so you can see what thy look like.

I can't wait to start using these as embellishments-I have lots of ideas on what to do with them. Cards, scrapbook pages, tags, the list goes on...
